We welcome two new trustees to Stick ‘n’ Step

We have further strengthened our Board of Trustees with the appointment of Jo Davies and Lauren Landry. The two new trustees bring a wealth of expertise from the digital, commercial and legal sectors, helping to support our mission to transform the lives of children and young people through our specialist conductive education and family support. 

Jo Davies brings more than 20 years of experience in digital product management, marketing and strategic development across education, not-for-profit and commercial organisations. She is a senior digital product leader, creating products and services that make a real difference to children, young people, and the professionals who work with them.

Having grown up with a brother with a disability, Jo’s connection to our charity is also personal. She  has a deep understanding of the importance of providing the right support, opportunities and encouragement to children and young people with additional needs and their families.

Jo said, 

I am so pleased to join Stick 'n' Step's Board of Trustees and support such an inspiring organisation. Having seen first-hand the difference that the right support can make to children and families, I am passionate about helping charities create meaningful impact. I look forward to contributing my skills and experience to support Stick 'n' Step's continued growth and development.

Lauren Landry's connection with Stick 'n' Step began through her employer, Slater and Gordon Lawyers, which is one of our legal partners. Her involvement with us grew after attending one of our  Strictly events and meeting some of the families we support. 

An Associate Solicitor, with more than 15 years of experience in claimant clinical negligence, Lauren has worked with many children living with cerebral palsy throughout her career. She has seen the positive impact that conductive education can have in improving motor skills and promoting independence. 

She also understands the importance of family support networks through personal experience, as her young cousin was diagnosed with a rare neurodegenerative disease. 

Lauren comments, 

I fell in love with Stick 'n' Step after meeting the incredible children and families supported by the charity. The sense of community, encouragement and opportunity it provides is truly special. I am honoured to join the Board of Trustees and look forward to supporting the charity's vital work and helping it continue to reach more families.

 

Our Chief Executive Sarah Smithson welcomed the appointments, saying,

They each bring valuable professional expertise, fresh perspectives and a genuine enthusiasm for supporting children and young people with disabilities and their families. Their experience will be a tremendous asset as we continue to support families across the region.
