Swinging success for Stick ānā Step: 20 years of annual golf days raise over half a million pounds
06 May 2026
We held our annual golf day on Monday at Pryors Hayes Golf Club in Cheshire and we are thrilled to report that with the day raising just over £27,000, it takes the total raised at these events over the last 20 years to over £500,000!
160 golfers took part in the event, which was sponsored by our long-time supporter Catalyst Interiors. The event was followed by an evening of entertainment, led by comedian and DJ Justin Moorhouse, including an auction to boost fundraising for us even further, with over £7,000 raised.
Sporting stars taking part in this year’s golf day included a number of football legends, such as Jason McAteer and Kevin Ratcliffe, and including former Manchester United players, Frank Stapleton, Stuart Pearson, and Arthur Albiston. The winning team was captained by Joe Ritchie. We are very grateful to Sky Sports commentator Rob Palmer, who organised the day once more in his role as our ambassador.
Rob Palmer said,
To see this event raise more than £500,000 over the past 20 years is an incredible achievement and something everyone involved should be immensely proud of. The funds raised over the years have helped support hundreds of children and their families through conductive education at Stick ‘n’ Step, giving them opportunities to develop skills, confidence and independence. It’s a fantastic example of what can be achieved when people come together for a great cause.
Our CEO, Sarah Smithson, said,
I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s golf day such a success, from all those who took part on the course, to the volunteers and team behind the scenes, and to everyone who so generously supported our evening auction. We are also incredibly grateful to Pryors Hayes Golf Club for once again looking after us so well and helping to create such a fantastic day.
Every pound raised will support children attending conductive education sessions at our centres in Runcorn and Wallasey. As a charity, we need to raise £750,000 each year to continue delivering these life-changing services, and events like this truly make a vital difference to the children and families we support.
