Stick ‘n’ Step marks Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month with a packed programme of fundraising events

We celebrated Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month in March with a month‑long programme of community events, fundraisers and awareness‑raising activities across the North West.

Local landmarks lit up green for CP Awareness Month

Children Alex and Thomas who both attend our conductive education sessions visited Runcorn and Leigh Town Halls, which were illuminated green in recognition of Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month. We would like to thank photographer Josh Haselden, who captured stunning images of Chester landmarks joining the national green‑lighting campaign.

Murder Mystery Night draws a full house

On 20 March, guests gathered at Runcorn Golf Club for our hugely successful Murder Mystery Night. The event, delivered by the talented actors of Sudden Death Theatre Company, provided an evening of laughs, intrigue and enthusiastic detective work. The fundraiser brought the community together for an unforgettable night and raised vital funds for us too.

Special thanks must go to Pete Turner and the Sudden Death Theatre Company for their fantastic performance, Runcorn Golf Club for hosting the event and Fairways Hospitality for providing a delicious buffet.

Community event in Liscard raises over £1,000

On 7 March, we hosted a special community event at Liscard’s Cherry Tree Centre, bringing together local small businesses, Liscard Community Links Choir, and special guest star Rumi from KPop Demon Hunters. Sponsored by TradeCareUK, the community event raised over £1,000 for us.

Record donations at The Wirral Egg Run

On 22 March, the famous annual Wirral Egg Run saw our Regional Fundraiser, Netty, join the Mayor of Wirral Brian Kenny and World Superbike icon Carl Fogarty as thousands of bikers and families took part. More than 2,000 Easter eggs were donated on the day, including 200 for our children and their siblings. The event also raised over £1,300 for us. We offer huge thanks to organiser Mike Dudley and to TradeCareUK for helping collect and distribute eggs and donations.

Choir performance at Liverpool One raises over £277

On 29 March, despite challenging weather, Connected Voices Choir and volunteers Unah and Cole delivered a powerful hour‑long performance at Liverpool One, raising £277.37 in just 60 minutes. Their dedication and energy drew a supportive crowd who helped make the event a fundraising success.

Local venues joined the cause

Throughout March, we have also been running a Go Green Easter Raffle at the Balfour Street Co‑op. We extend warm thanks to the supportive Co‑op team, especially Mark, the supervisor, whose enthusiasm has been incredible. All proceeds from the Go Green hamper raffle will go directly towards delivering the our services.

Community pub The Tower Hotel in Liscard embraced the fundraising spirit, raising £120 through Spot The Ball cards to win Easter hampers.

Amanda Davidson, Asda Liscard’s Community Champion, hosted a Psychic Night in support of Stick ‘n’ Step, New Hope Wirral CIC and Tickled Pink. The event raised over £200 for our services.

Bond Turner Solicitors host charity bake sale

To close the month of celebrations, one of our Legal Partners, Bond Turner Solicitors, held a charity bake sale, raising further funds for our essential services.

Commenting on the month’s activities, Sarah Smithson, our CEO said:

Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month is so important to our charity, our families and our community. We are incredibly grateful to every supporter, business, volunteer and fundraiser who helped make March such a meaningful and successful month. Every pound raised helps children and young people with cerebral palsy build confidence, independence and fulfil their own individual potential.
