💙 Want to help make a difference in your community?

We're on the lookout for friendly local spots – newsagents, pubs, chip shops (or anywhere else!) – to host one of our Stick ‘n’ Step collection tins.

If you or someone you know can pop a tin on the counter, get in touch at fundraising@sticknstep.org – let’s do something amazing together! 🙌✨

We have appointed a raft of new recruits at our two centres in Wallasey and Runcorn.

New operations and relationships officer

We have recruited a new operations and relationships officer, Christina Vaughan, to assist with running our Wallasey centre and liaise closely with all the families we support.

Working at Stick ‘n’ Step has become something of a family affair for Christina, as her 18 year old daughter Abigail has recently started work as a cleaner at our Wallasey centre, as well as being a keen volunteer on our behalf. Her younger brother, Jayden, aged 10, not to be outdone, has also started volunteering for us too.

As well as taking up this new role, Christina has volunteered to take part in a skydive next month, despite her dislike of heights, to help raise funds! Christina says,

Once you meet the children supported by Stick ‘n’ Step, you just want to do all that you can to help them. I’ve lived in Wallasey all my life and I am proud to be part of this organisation that does so much to help children and young people locally, and across the region, to live their lives to their full potential.

A new conductor for Stick ‘n’ Step

Specialising in the delivery of conductive education, another new recruit is a new conductor. Indila Simandi has over 30 years’ experience in the UK and Hungary and a postgraduate diploma in Conductive Education. She is currently working on our new Early Intervention Programme, which is dedicated to babies and younger children from six months old.

Welcome back Joel!

Meanwhile, Joel Sweeney, from Wallasey, who has previously worked at Stick ‘n’ Step, has returned to our Wallasey centre as a classroom assistant to help support our busy team.

Joel is now a qualified sports massage therapist and has extensive experience with the Galileo vibration device, which we are using with his guidance in the classroom. The Galileo machine uses whole body vibration therapy and helps improve muscle strength, balance and co-ordination through high-frequency, side-alternating vibrations, that stimulate muscle contractions and enhance neuromuscular control.
