Testimonial by Tracie Laithwaite mum to Hannah

My daughter, Hannah, has attended Stick n Step Conductive Education for nearly 3 ½ years now and the benefits have been great for the two of us! When Hannah started at 2 ½ years old she had just started to sit independently for a very short period of time.  I can remember my home Physio telling me that she felt Hannah would never crawl and that she would eventually go from sitting to standing.  Within 4 months of Hannah attending Stick 'n' Step twice a week she was crawling and this of course opened up a whole new world for her, as well as all the benefits she gained from building strength to her four limbs.

Along with Cerebral Palsy, Hannah also has global development delay.  Despite her difficulties she has worked well in her class and has learnt to stand and side step with the aid of a stationery object.  She is also now just starting to show signs of doing some independent standing and taking a few steps with the aid of holding an adults hand – it’s just great to see this happening.

I really feel that Hannah attending Stick 'n' Step on a regular basis has helped her immensely, not only from a physical point of view but also socially.  She really enjoys going to the classes and it’s lovely to see her happy around the familiar faces of the staff, conductors and all the children who attend the centre.

I feel that Stick 'n' Step is also a great place for parents to meet one another and share stories, both good and bad!  I have gained some lovely friends and it really does feel like home sometimes!

The staff and conductors are wonderful people who without a doubt love working with the children and are very committed to the centre.
