At Stick ‘n’ Step we offer our services to Mother and Baby, Nursery and School Age groups.
Currently this is run on Monday morning and Tuesday morning. It enables parents/carers/family members to gain a greater understanding of how motor disorder affects their child and helps them encourage their child to achieve greater independence.
Our conductors are able to advise parents about appropriate techniques and toys to encourage the development of social and play skills.
And finally, it is an ideal opportunity to meet other parents of children with special needs.
Currently this is run on a Wednesday and Friday morning. It enables children to develop their movement skills, speech and communication skills, intellectual skills, self-care, emotional and social skills. Parents leave their children in our care but are welcome to visit sessions by arrangement to see their child in action and learn what to do to continue working back home!
Five afternoons a week sessions are run for children over 5. Each child has their own particular set of goals. These are discussed with parents on a regular basis and monitored throughout each term. Conductors work with the children to develop their movement skills, communication skills, cognitive functions and intellectual skills.
Conductors continue to work on developing the child’s range, co-ordination and control of movement.
They continue working on the child’s social and daily living skills.
Continue to work to develop the child’s ability in self-help skills to include dressing, feeding and toileting.
Monday – Friday sessions 9.30am to 12.15pm and 1.00pm to 4.00pm,
Tuesday and Thursday twilight sessions from 4.00pm to 6.00pm
Saturday morning 9.30am to 12.15pm.
The twilight and Saturday morning sessions are primarily for school children that are at a crucial stage in their mainstream National Curriculum.
